Delete your Tales account

Tales is operated by Dog Diary LLC. This page explains how to request account deletion and what happens to your data.

You can delete your Tales account at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete your account in the app

The fastest way to delete your account is from the Tales mobile app:

1. Open Tales and sign in.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap User settings.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Confirm deletion when prompted.

After you confirm, your account and associated data are deleted from our active systems. You will be signed out immediately.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have access to the app, email us at support@jointales.com from the email address linked to your Tales account and ask us to delete your account. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.

We typically respond within a few business days and process verified deletion requests as soon as reasonably possible.

Data that is deleted

When your account is deleted, we delete:

• Your login credentials and Firebase authentication record
• Your user profile (name, username, email, and profile photo)
• Your reserved username
• Your in-app notifications
• Pet profiles you solely own, including pet photos, documents, posts, comments, and follow relationships tied to those pets
• Posts you authored
• Photos, videos, and files you uploaded that are tied to deleted content

If you co-own a pet profile with another Tales user, your ownership is removed but the pet profile may remain for the other owner(s).

Data that may be kept

We may retain certain information when required by law or for legitimate business purposes, including:

• Aggregated or anonymized analytics and usage data that no longer identifies you
• Crash and diagnostic logs for a limited period
• Records related to abuse reports, fraud prevention, security investigations, or legal compliance
• Backups until they are overwritten on our normal backup cycle

Retention period

Account deletion is processed promptly after you confirm in the app or after we verify an email request. Some automatically collected data may be retained for up to 24 months, and other data for up to 12 months after you stop using Tales, unless a longer period is required by law.
